Best order to teach letters ?

Most children begin recognizing some letters between the ages of 2 and 3 and can identify most letters between 4 and 5. This means that you can start teaching your child the alphabet when he's around 2 — but don't expect full mastery for some time. What's more, toddlers learn differently from older children, so don't pull out the flashcards and audiotapes just yet. Instead, rely on visual aids such as colorful alphabet picture books — your child will have a great time pointing out the letters he knows, as well as colors, shapes, animals, and other objects in the book.



So what is best order to teach letters ? or easiest way to teach letters(alphabet) ? or what is best order so your child can learn letters easily ?


As qualified early child educator/instructor and my experience of teaching toddlers, beginners and preschooler for more than 15 years.


From my experience i would say that the best order to teach letters is "Line Stroke Sequence" or "Line Stroke method"


The most effective, easy and best order to teach your child alphabet/letters is " line stroke method/sequence"

A line stroke based approach which emphasizes the development of motor plans for letter formation, builds on the child's sensory strengths and implicit learning abilities. Once the letter is completed children with autism are able to evaluate the shape and size ot the letter and use their superior ability for seeing detail to provide feedback that can be used to adapt the motor plan.






Introducing young children who are just starting to print letters to the basic strokes used to form letters and showing  them how these can be joined to form letters has several advantages: 

Firstly it ensures that the child learns to print letters using the correct sequence of strokes right from the start.The other advantage is that the child starts to recognise the strokes that make up any new letters that they encounter.  This is the start of developing the connection between printed letters and the motor plan for the letter. Once a child has learned the to write and recognise the letter strokes, they will quickly recognise them in any new letter they encounter and are often able to print the letter with minimal specific training for the writing the particular letter. 




Each letter stroke has a specific direction, length and curvature relative to the other strokes in a letter. All letters(alphabets) are formed and written by combination of "line" strokes, they are combination of standing, sleeping, slanting and curve lines.


Each letter is written by combining two or more strokes in succession. Well learned, fluently written letters are produced by a rapid pre-planned movement that does not require visual monitoring. Visual feedback following the completion of printing the letter is used to asses the quality of the letter.

"Line stroke methods/techniques" is the best order to teach letters ! The most logical order for learning alphabets for first time learners, toddlers, beginners, preschoolers, and kindergartens. Its it ideal/best order to learning alphabets for first time learners or beginners for age group of 2 years and above
